TOOL
Quote-comparison worksheet
Get quotes on one identical spec, then type them in here: carrier, dwelling coverage, deductible, endorsements and annual premium. The worksheet lines them up side by side, shows the premium spread, and flags the trap that ruins most comparisons, mismatched dwelling coverage. It contains no prices of its own.
Short answer
This worksheet compares quotes you obtained yourself, and nothing else. It holds up to five quotes, lines them up on carrier, dwelling coverage, deductible, endorsements and annual premium, flags mismatched dwelling limits, and shows the spread between the highest and lowest premium you entered. It publishes no prices of its own, and nothing you type leaves your browser. If you do not have quotes yet, pick who to ask from the companies directory first.
Your data stays in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent, stored or shared. This tool is not a quote and not insurance advice.
Before you type: the identical spec
Hand every insurer the same list: the dwelling limit you chose, every deductible line (all-perils plus any wind or hurricane percentage), the policy form, replacement cost or actual cash value settlement for dwelling and contents, and the endorsements you carry. Our renewal shopping guide builds that spec step by step, and the companies directory helps you pick who to ask.
How to read the result
- Coverage rows first. Dwelling, deductible and endorsements must match across columns before the premium row means anything.
- Then the spread. The spread is what a year of shopping is worth on an identical product. If it is small, your renewal was already competitive.
- Then the deductible trade. If the finalists differ mainly in deductible, run the pair through the deductible tradeoff calculator: it weighs the annual premium saving against the extra cost per claim and shows the break-even claim pace over 5, 10 or 15 years.
- Then the checklist. Run the winning quote through the coverage checklist against its declarations page before you bind or renew.
Common questions
Where do the quotes come from?
From you. This worksheet has no prices of its own and invents nothing. You request quotes from insurers or agents on one identical spec, then type the carrier, dwelling coverage, deductible, endorsements and annual premium from each quote into the boxes.
Does anything I enter get sent anywhere?
No. The worksheet runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no upload and no tracking of the figures you type. If you close the page, the entries are gone.
How many quotes should I enter?
Three is the working number: your current renewal, one quote through an independent agent or broker, and one direct or online quote. The worksheet holds up to five.
The cheapest quote has a lower dwelling limit. Is it still cheaper?
It is a thinner product at a lower price, which is not the same thing. The worksheet flags mismatched dwelling amounts. Ask for a re-quote on the same limit before you compare premiums.
Method
This worksheet performs arithmetic only on figures you enter: it formats them, lines them up, computes the difference between the highest and lowest premium you typed, and flags unequal dwelling amounts. It uses no external data. See Methodology and the Disclaimer.
